MAVA Selects Nextreme Thermal Solutions for Prestigious Conference
Thermoelectric Device Pioneer to Present at Capital Connection on May 31 - June 1
Research Triangle Park, NC (May 25, 2005) - Newly founded Nextreme Thermal Solutions, a pioneer in embedded thermoelectric components, has been selected as one of 42 participants - and only three from North Carolina - to participate in the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Venture Association's (MAVA) Capital Connection SM 2005 venture fair. The event will be held May 31 - June 1 in Baltimore, MD.
MAVA, founded in 1986, has generated in its history more than $2.4 billion in venture investments. Companies among its hand-selected past have included organizations like AOL, Advertising.com and UUNet.
"For nearly two decades, MAVA's venture fairs have identified some of the hottest entrepreneurial companies," said MAVA Executive Director Julia Spicer. "Capital Connection 2005 continues that trend, not only showcasing exciting rising star companies on the east coast, but enterprises who have the potential to be industry leaders."
Nextreme manufactures high-performance, solid-state components that operate as miniature heat pumps for cooling semiconductors and other electronics, and for fiber-optic laser control and thermal management of integrated optoelectronics. The company was founded in January 2005 with an initial round of $8 million.
"The MAVA selection process is a rigorous one, and we're honored to be a part of this esteemed venture fair. " Nextreme CEO Jesko von Windheim said. "We look forward to the opportunity to showcase our offering."
Likewise, MAVA representatives say they're equally pleased by what they've seen from the field.
"The investors who come to Capital Connection 2005 will see some of the most fundable entrepreneurial companies in the market today," said Tim Meyers, co-chair of Capital Connection 2005 selection committee. "These presenting companies demonstrate the continued strength and high quality of the entrepreneurs who are selected to participate in one of the venture industry's most successful venture fairs." About Nextreme Thermal Solutions Nextreme Thermal Solutions manufactures advanced thermoelectric components to address the escalating thermal management needs of the semiconductor, photonics, test-and-measurement and defense/aerospace industries. These high-performance solid-state components operate as miniature heat pumps for cooling semiconductors and other electronics, and for fiber-optic laser control and thermal management of integrated optoelectronics. Nextreme's unique thin-film superlattice technology provides an industry first - the embedding of an active cooling device directly into an integrated circuit's package. Other applications include converting heat into electricity for advanced power generation applications, thermal batteries and automotive energy management.
Nextreme raised $8 million in Series A financing in December 2004 to commercialize the technology that was under development for more than 10 years at RTI International (www.rti.org). Nextreme is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. For more information, please visit www.Nextreme.com.
