Posted 7/14/11 - Nextreme is seeking an applications engineer for designing and building prototype systems that employ Nextreme’s thermal management and power generation products.

Key Job Tasks
Design and build prototype systems that employ Nextreme’s thermal management and power generation products. Understand and apply Nextreme’s technology to creative thermal management or power generation solutions for our customers. Create datasheets, applications notes and technical papers. Support writing of proposals. Provide technical support to domestic and international customers during pre and post-sales phases. Provide technical input for the definition of Nextreme’s products via close collaboration with customers and Nextreme’s Marketing, Engineering and Operations. Provide technical assessment of competitive and synergistic technologies.

Educational Requirement
Qualified candidates will have a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics BS or related fields.

Commercial Experience Requirements
5+ years of Application Engineering, Product Development or New Product Introduction (NPI) experience in military electronics, semiconductor, optoelectronics or photonics components, thermoelectric components, or other applications requiring thermal management solutions. Hands-on experience in building, testing and demonstrating new thermal technology in various applications on the lab bench. Working knowledge of thermal management components (i.e., heat spreaders, thermal interface materials, thermoelectrics, etc).

Other Key Core Skill Sets
Very strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with multi-discipline engineering teams and customers. Work well in either a team or individual environment. Creative thinker. Demonstrated ability to solving customers problems. Flexibility to work on a variety of different technical fronts involving multiple projects for multiple customers simultaneously. Hands-on, practical, commercial focus. Willingness to travel.

This is a salary, exempt positions with an annualized salary range of $60,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience. The company offers a competitive benefit package including paid-time-off, paid holidays, group medical and dental insurance and a 401(k) plan.
